Design for the Season...
Now is a great time to begin to revitalize your home or office space.
Some ideas to help you revitalize your home or office are shown below.
|
Vacuum your window treatments & evaluate what you
may add or change to freshen the look. A suggestion would be to replace
existing panels with upgraded sheers for the coming months.
|
|
Change color schemes through altering the bedding arrangements in your rooms -
look for possible changes with comforters, blankets and other linens.

Here are some tips cited from Decorating Den's "Interiors" writer, Carol Donayre Bugg:
- Add a Decorative Mirror
Mirrors are the most effective way of visually increasing space. Make sure the mirror reflects something of your interest.
Mirrors positioned to reflect a work of art, or a window with a view, will double your pleasure, as well as increase
the sense of space.
- Include Glass Tables within Your Home
A glass-top dining table or side table will not only allow your to view the carpet beneath, but will also serve as a
refreshing relief from all of the wood pieces found in the average room. The same pleasing effect can be achieved with a glass cocktail table.
- Legs
There is nothing quite like having great legs, especially when it comes to drawing the eye underneath pieces of furniture.
Exposed legs are subtle, but important detail that adds to the illusion of a larger room.
Lift those skirts off sofas and chairs. Besides creating a roomy impression, leggy upholstered pieces are very much in vogue.
Removing the dust ruffle from a bed will promote the same result. For more decorating tips, see our
Feng Shui section.

Brighten Up Gloomy Homes and Offices
Brighten up gloomy homes, apartments and offices with the right lighting.
Before you go out and invest time and money on new lights, fixtures or lamps, look at the surfaces in your room/office.
Surfaces such as walls, ceilings, floors counters. Changing a surface finish is sometimes as simple as
a fresh coast of paint, a good cleaning of dirty surfaces & fixtures.
After you have looked at your surfaces and cleaned your fixtures, you can then focus on new lighting solutions.

and eliminating / reducing clutter as much as possible.
- Keep your space in good condition. Repair cracks, peeling or discolored paint, and anything elese that is in a state
of disrepair, immediately.
- Allow sunlight into your space on a daily basis.
- If possible, open windows and/or doors to allow fresh air to circulate through the space on a regular basis,
preferably daily, for at least an hour.
- Place a fountain in the northern sector of your space. Not for bedrooms.
- Keep a spray bottle with fresh water and a few drops of lavender or other aromatic oil nearby. Spray a very fine
mist into the air.
- Bring a few fresh plants into your space. Be sure to water and keep them healthy.
- Use full-spectrum light bulbs instead of incandescent or florescent bulbs. These bulbs emit the same type of light as
sunlight, are much healthier, and greatly reduce that burned-out feeling.
- Play music that you love in your space. Music is powerful medicine.
These simple tips can easily become part of your daily routine. They will go a long way in improving
and maintaining a high level of positive energy in your space and in your life.
